Sebastien Lauzon's concert and DVD review
June 6, Places des arts, Montreal
This day was simply amazing. I was there in the front row with my parents and
nine of my friends to see the concert of my idol, Roger Hodgson. It was a few
minutes before the concert, and we could already start to feel the anticipation
of the crowd. The spectators whistled and cheered the legend as he strode onto
the stage. The cameras were ready to roll. Suddenly, my friends David and Lyne
held up a blue banner that read: "MONTREAL LOVES ROGER HODGSON." It didn’t take
more than that to make the crowd roar like crazy. A few minutes later, the
lights finally went out with Roger receiving a standing ovation of several
minutes. The crowd applauded, shouted, whistled… what they were saying was: "Welcome
back to Montreal Roger, we missed you!." The concert was, well just in one
word, it was FABULOUS! This was my 20th Roger Hodgson concert and it was
one of the best I’ve have ever seen. He played all his Supertramp classics, some
solo songs (old and new). "Even in the Quietest Moment's" left me stunned. What
a great concert it was!
Recently, before another sold out show in Northeast Quebec, I was lucky enough to be able to view a rough-cut copy of the first 20 minutes of the forthcoming DVD, and I have to say how deeply touched I was. A Few minutes of the show was enough to give me shivers and put tears in my eyes. It is difficult to explain, however the DVD is so well filmed and edited that it’s impossible to remain insensitive. When I sawit, I was so into it that it felt like I was really back there… in the first row with my parents and friends, and the gamut of the excitement and emotions we went thorough!
I just can’t wait to listen to the DVD again.
It will make a wonderful souvenir to all of his fans worldwide. When I miss
Roger… I will be able to listen to the DVD and it will take me back to that
magical day on June 6, 2006 in Montreal where Roger put Heart, Soul, and Voice
into the word Musicianship.
