Combined Insurance Company

In 2000, Henri joined Combined Insurance Company's Canadian translation team, working on a wide variety of projects in the training, marketing and legal areas.

In 2001 and again in 2005, Henri Thibodeau contributed to the French translation of Combined Insurance Company’s Canadian website.

Combined's Canadian head office is based in Markham, Ontario.

 

Combined Insurance Company of America was founded in 1919 by W. Clement Stone. Operating in  Canada since 1956, its product line consists of accident, disability, health and life insurance sold to individuals, families, professionals and businesses. Combined Insurance is a member of the ACE Group of Companies.


Vivavision GroupVivavision Group

Since the fall of 2005, Henri has worked for Vivavision Group as a freelance translator.

Henri has translated different pre-production documents (project outlines and scripts) from English to French and from French to English for Vivavision and Vivaclic, its division responsible for youth programming.

"Vivavision's mission: To make intelligent wholesome entertainment for the whole family. With no nudity, no gratuitous violence, all our productions are intended to reach a television audience equivalent to a G-rated film audience."


Le Livre de l’année GROLIER

From 1987 to 2009, Henri made regular contributions to the Livre de l’année, the French Canadian edition of the Book of Knowledge’s annual update. The Book of Knowledge was published by Grolier, a member of the Scholastic group of publishers. The publisher stopped publishing this book after the 2009 edition.

Aside from writing original articles in French, Henri also translated and adapted some content for a French-Canadian readership on topics such as:

  • Immigration : A Controversial Issue

  • Gambling

  • Climate Change

  • The Canadian Mission in Afghanistan


Translation for an international non-profit organization

Since 2003, Henri Thibodeau has provided his translation services (English to French Canadian) to a non-profit, anonymous international organization based in Virginia Beach, VA.

Over a period of two years, Henri translated excerpts from this organization's monthly magazine for its quarterly French Canadian bulletin.

Henri has also translated several books into French for this organization:

Henri Thibodeau wrote and translated content for this orthodontic appliances manufacturer's website. Laboratoire Bellomo & Lambert is based in Longueil, Québec.

Deluxe Softitler

Henri Thibodeau worked for some time as an independent translator for Deluxe Solftitler on the translation of DVD subtitles.

Headquartered in California, Deluxe Softitler operates out of several international offices in locations such as Montréal (Canada), Paris (France) and Florence (Italy).

In 2006, Henri Thibodeau worked on the French Canadian subtitling of such DVDs as Mission Impossible 3, The Conformist, and Scoop (by Woody Allen).
