DNA²

One hundred year in the future, Japan has a major over-population problem. The cause of this problem: one man, Momonari Junta also called the Mega Playboy. It is said that this Mega Playboy had sex with 100 woman, which resulted in the birth of 100 children. This wouldn't have been much of a problem, except that all males children where also Mega Playboy who had 100 children, then the males of these children also had 100 children...

In order to fix things, the government decides to send to the past Karin Aoi, a DNA specialist, with a mission to modify Momonari Junta DNA before he has his first child. So, armed with a DCM bullet specially design to eradicate the Mega Playboy DNA, Karin goes back in time. There, Karin easily find Junta, but hesitate to shoot him. From what she can see, Junta is far from being the Mega Playboy. Junta actually have a big problem: he throws up at anything that seems (even slightly) sexual. After making sure that Junta is really the individual later called the Mega Playboy, Karin shoot him with the DCM bullet. Happy that her mission was successful that she'll finally be able to achieve her dream (a pet, a nice husband and a sweet sweet home) Karin prepare herself to return to her time, when she learns that she took the wrong bullet! Junta now seems to turn into the Mega Playboy and back. Did that bullet actually caused Junta to become the Mega Playboy? Karin now has to find a way to fix the mess she caused and to find a way to keep the Mega Playboy DNA in control before it stabilize. The answer to that problem seems to be Ami, Junta's childhood friend, the only woman not affected by the Mega Playboy DNA. But that won't be easy, since Ami refuses to consider Junta to be more then a friend and soon, all the girls around Junta falls for him, including Karin!

DNA² is a mixture of SciFi, romance and comedy story. It's quite original, hilarious at times, and the later episodes have lot of action (it turns a bit into Dragonball style - Junta transformation into the Mega Playboy is somewhat in the same style as the Super-Saiyajin transformation in DBZ). I haven't seen the manga, but it is said to be composed of five volumes. The TV anime is composed of 12 episodes, and 3 OVA episodes where made as well.

The artwork is quite nice, even though I'm not personally crazy about Junta Dragonball style haircut. The intro and ending songs are quite good also and it was the first time I actually heard an intro song done by a male singer, so that made it interesting.

I liked that serie, and although it's not in the top of my favorite list, I believe DNA² is definitively something that should be seen, would it be only for it originality.
