Gunsmith Cats

Gunsmith Cats

If you would see her, you might think that Rally Vincent is just a lovely lady who hold a gun shop in Chicago. But this could be a mistake, a lethal one if your a wanted criminal. Not only Rally is an expert on virtually every kind of firearm, but she is also a very efficient bounty hunter (as a hobby). To help her (both in the shop and in her sideline job) is Minnie May Hopkins a young enthusiastic undisciplined blonde with a fascination for grenades and other explosives. Together they make an unbeatable team. Wanted criminals, beware of those two lovely girls!

Gunsmith Cats is a manga by Kenichi Sonoda. I believe that at least 8 volumes exists. It was translated in English by Dark Horse and in French by Glenat. Three OVA where also released, available in North America from A.D. Vision.

I've read the first manga and seen the first OVA. The general story of Gunsmith Cats is quite interesting. It has everything to attract the interest of an American audience: guns, explosions, sport cars, lovely lethal ladies, plenty of action and humour.

The manga is composed of small stories, the drawing is nice and the story is more or less violent (lot of body parts getting blown away). The story in overall is much interesting. The anime seems to follow what was done in the manga. The animation is neat, and it has all the action of the manga, except that it seem more cleaner (nicer deaths, no visible sex). The dub is done by Amanda Winn and Kimberly Yates, a team I already knew from Devil Hunter Yohko, who did a very good job. I kinda suggest the dub, mainly because of the very nature of the characters: American Chicago ladies. Only one problem with the anime: it's really short. But still recommened.
