If anyone (esp. someone with a musical ear, an understanding of tuning,
and tuning gear) cares to experiment with this applet, I'd appreciate it,
with (for each environment) answers to the following. Other comments are
also welcome of course.

1) Environment (H/W, Java run-time):

   (eg. Javaphone, JDK1.1 on Solaris, NN3.01 on MacOS)

2) Does it work:

   (applet uses sun.audio.* classes which may not be available everywhere)

3) Is the sound choppy:

   (how? random dropouts, regular dropouts; barely usable)

4) Is the frequency accurate:

   (is the A 440 really 440.0 Hz? if not, can you tell me what it is or
   how many cents you have to adjust the A to get it to be accurate --
   with luck, you may have a tuning fork, an electronic tuning device)

5) Is it reasonably responsive:

   (how long does it take between clicking and hearing something?)
